Maharashtra won’t bow before Delhi: Minister Aaditya Thackeray

MUMBAI: Though there is an attempt to lower the importance of Mumbai by moving things to Delhi, Maharashtra won’t bow before Delhi, no matter how much pressure the Centre puts, environment minister Aaditya Thackeray said on Sunday.

On the I-T department searches at Sena corporator and BMC st-anding panel chairperson Yashwant Jadhav’s home, Thackeray said: “All this is being done for the sake of politics. BJP’s campaign has started. Today, all of Maharashtra knows that whether it is the Bengal or Maharashtra pattern, such things will continue by central agencies. It will happen till the polls.”

“The more these people try to bring pressure from the Centre, the more Maharashtra will unite and stand with Maha Vikas Aghadi,” he added.

Speaking at a Marathi Language Day programme, he said: “...Marathi language has never bowed before the throne of Delhi and even today this Marathi will not bow before Delhi. Subhash Desai has made Marathi compulsory. It’s a little hard to understand...He should make it a little easier. We are constructing a building for Marathi language board and a library to study the language.”

Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut claimed that the I-T raids on Jadhav were to malign Sena with an eye on BMC elections. “It seems central probe agencies are busy only in Maharashtra and WB, which are ruled by non-BJP parties,” he added.
