Maharashtra: Two brothers kill cousin over property dispute in Dombivli, one held in Jharkhand

KALYAN: In a dispute over village property, two brothers allegedly killed their cousin in Dombivli and later fled to their native place in Jharkhand.

The local Manpada police managed to nab one accused Kalu Mahato from his village in Jharkhand and the search for the other Lalu Mahato is on.

The police had to face the ire of villagers when they went to Jharkhand to arrest the accused. They were attacked with stones but managed to nab one of the accused.

The police said that the deceased Puran Mahato also hailed from Jharkhand and was working as a daily wage labourer at Golivali area in Dombivli. Both the accused brothers were also staying in the same area.

Police said both the accused brothers were having dispute with Puran over 20 guntha land in thier village. The duo on November 4 seriously injured Puran by attacking him with stone, he later died during treatment on November 8.

After the incident, Shekhar Bagde, senior police inspector of Manpada police station formed a team under API Avinash Vanve which went to Jharkhand to nab the culprits.

Talking to TOI, Shekhar Bagde said, "Our team despite facing opposition by villagers nabbed the accused who threw stones on them".

Bagde further said, "Very soon our team will nab another accused who is on the run".
