MUMBAI: Maharashtra has once again surged ahead of other states to regain its first position in terms of attracting foreign direct investments (FDIs) in the country, said Chief Minister Eknath Shinde while winding up the monsoon session here on Friday.
"Over the last one year the state has successfully attracted around Rs 1.18 lakh foreign direct investment taking Maharashtra ahead of Karnataka and Gujarat. Moreover Rs 80000 crore investments agreed upon in Davos were in the process of implementation," he said in his speech that marked the end of legislative session.
However, he attacked the erstwhile MVA government alleging that the state lagged behind in investments due to lack of efforts on their part during their tenure. "Several projects were stuck. Over the past one year myself and Fadnvis removed all the speed breakers thus pushing the state once again on the path of progress," he said while replying to last week's motion moved by the opposition.
While targeting MVA Shinde said it was still under wraps as to how many agreements were made in Davos during their tenure and how many of them were actually implemented. "This government is the one that works 24x7 in action mode and not like the earlier government that remained live on facebook and was remotely run from home," he said while criticising the then Uddhav Thackeray-led MVA government.
"It is in the leadership of Pm Modi that the country's economy has come to 5th position from its earlier 10th position. State is providing around Rs 1200 crore subsidy to the industry besides offering Rs 1.25 lakh crore relief to farmers to further strengthen its position. Around 69 lakh farmers in the state had taken benefit of crop insurances," he added.
In the Rs 16.17 lakh crore green hydrogen programme planned for the country Shinde said Rs 96000 crore investment would be coming to the state alone. "State has already disbursed around rs 100 crore relief package to divyang and has already enhanced the health relief for commoners to Rs 5 lakh each from earlier Rs 1.5 lakh to consolidate its progressive image," he said pointing out that around 97% of the land records in the state had been digitised.
CM offers Sena's party fund to UBT Sena
DCM Pawar claims his was the NCP even as a larger chunk of MLAs sat on opposition benches
Chief minister Eknath Shinde on friday said he had cleared Rs 52 crore claim made by Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray (UBT Sena) over the Shiv Sena's funds despite the fact that it was his faction that has been officially recognised by the election commission as the main Shiv Sena. "It is sad on part of these people to claim only the party. We are happy to inherit the ideology and the legacy of Balasaheb rather than his assets," he said
To an opposition allegation that their 90 legislators were being deprived of the government disbursements, deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar said there would be no partiality as far as legislators' funds. However, to a query that there was a confusion as to how many NCP legislators were sitting with him, Pawar said he would love to put all in confusion rather than clearing it. "We all belong to NCP," he added. It may be mentioned that the assembly saw a few NCP legislators sitting on opposition benches while a few on the ruling side.
