MUMBAI: A crucial meeting of the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) to elect a new president in place of Nana Patole will be held on Monday, September 19, at Y B Chavan center.
AICC returning officer and ex-union minister Pallam Raju will preside over the meeting. Besides Patole, former CM Ashok Chavan and former revenue minister Balasaheb Thorat are the front runners for the post. AICC general secretary H K Patil, who is in-charge of MPCC, will be observer for the meeting.
Patole, who took on PM Narendra Modi, quit the BJP and joined the Congress. On December 1, 2019, Patole was elected as the speaker of the legislative assembly, while on February 8, 2021, he quit, following which he was elected PCC president.
