Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee chief Nana Patole targets Maha Vikas Aghadi partners on wards delimitation

NAGPUR: MPCC chief Nana Patole once again targeted the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) partners (NCP and Shiv Sena) over delimitation of wards in the state on Wednesday, warning them that Congress would knock judiciary’s doors, as the entire exercise was done as per their convenience.

“When three parties are running the government, the delimitation should have been done while taking leaders from all constituents into confidence. Congress leaders in Mumbai and Pune had already approached the court as they were upset over the new boundaries that would suit to our partners. We had demanded two-member system, but they have finalized three members. If our partners are looking after their benefits and objections are not addressed, we will move the courts,” he told media.

Indirectly taking a dig at Sena, which is ruling the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), over facing perennial waterlogging problems during monsoon, the Sakoli MLA said when Congress was in power there, the maximum city never faced such difficulties.

On party’s preparations for forthcoming local body polls, the former speaker said they were always ready for it. “The BJP spends Rs40 crore on its social media team. It targets anyone questioning the central government by stooping at the low level. They have pushed the country 50 years back with their policies. We will never indulge in such tactics. We don’t want cheap persons to handle our social media handles.”

Speaking on the NCP’s stand to support Sambhaji Raje for the Rajya Sabha seat, Patole said, the MVA had not discussed the issue, although the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s descendent was a well-respected figure.

Avoiding to comment on Varanasi’s Gyanvapi mosque row, Patole said Congress ideology never brought the religion into politics to be in power. “Our objective is very clear, we want to serve the country, focus on the people’s issues, and try to make it a superpower.”
