"We are Balasaheb Thackeray’s hardcore Shiv Sainiks. Balasaheb has given us the teachings of Hindutva. We shall never forget the ideas of Balasaheb and the teachings of Anand Dighe for power and never will," Eknath Shinde tweeted in Marathi.

According to the sources, the party has appointed Sewri MLA Ajay Chaudhary as its new legislative party leader.

Shinde, on his part, vowed to remain loyal to "the ideas of Balasaheb", calling himself a staunch Shi Sainik.

After suspected cross-voting in Maharashtra MLC elections and the camping of 'rebel' party MLAs in Gujarat, chief minister Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday held an urgent meeting of all Shiv Sena MLAs.

Meanwhile, NCP chief Sharad Pawar told reporters in Mumbai that that MVA government in Maharashtra will continue in the state under leadership of Uddhav Thackeray adding, "After looking at the situation today, I feel some path will emerge."
