Maharashtra: Nine Bangladeshi immigrants held for illegal stay in Bhiwandi

BHIWANDI: The crime branch unit of Thane police on Friday arrested nine Bangladeshi nationals working inside a textile company. The main accused was staying in Bhiwandi illegally for last 16 years and brought others Bangladeshi nationals to work in the area.

The arrested Bangladeshis are identified as Salim Shaikh alias Asgar ,30, Rasal Shaikh, 27, Shaheen Shaikh ,24, Masoom Islam, 21, Tarun Tripura, 21, Suman Tripura, 25, Ismail Khan, 19, Azam Khan, 19 and Aamir Khan, 26.

All the arrested accused hail from Chittagong district in Bangladesh.

Police said that the main accused Asgar was residing in Bhiwandi's Nadi Naka area for last 16 years and during the period he worked at various MIDC companies.

Ashok Honmane, senior police inspector of Bhiwandi crime branch unit said, "The primary probe has revealed that Asgar who stays in Bhiwandi for last many years illegally brought other Bangladeshi nationals to get job in last few years".

The police team on Thursday nabbed all nine from Avani Textile company situated in Sarvali MIDC in Bhiwandi.

They have been booked under different sections of Foreigners Act and sections of Passport rule, 1950.
