Maharashtra: Man stabs colleague for refusing to marry him

THANE: A 27-year-old woman was stabbed by her colleague when she refused to marry him.

The police said that the victim works in a salon in Maharashtra's Navi Mumbai where the accused also works.

A police officer said, “She is already married but separated from her husband and she resides with her parents as there were disputes with her husband.”

Being a work colleague, the accused knew the victim very well and for the past few weeks he was pestering her to marry him but the victim denied as she was already married.

On Tuesday, at around 11am, the accused told her to accompany him on her scooter as he wanted to talk something.

The victim went along with him.

As they came to Uttarshiv area of the Mumbra-Panvel Road, the accused told her to stop the bike.

“He again proposed to her to marry him but the victim again denied citing her marital status even though she is separated,” said a police officer.

Irked by the rejection, the accused flashed a knife and stabbed her in the stomach and face.

He even took away the mobile phone as well as the scooter of the victim.

The woman was later admitted to the Kalwa hospital where she was treated.

Based on her statement, the police registred a case of attempt to murder against the accused at Daighar police station.

Till last reports came in the accused was not arrested while her condition remains stable.

The local police are probing into the crime further it was stated.
