Maharashtra: Man dies at hospital after complaining of uneasiness at garba event in Virar; his father dies of shock

MUMBAI: A 65-year-old Virar man — who took his 35-year-old son to the hospital in an auto-rickshaw after he felt uneasy while playing garba in their housing society — died of a cardiac stroke in the auto after he saw his son collapse in the hospital premises on Saturday.

The son was also declared dead.

Manishkumar Jain, an imitation jewellery trader, was playing garba in the compound of his Evershine Avenue building in Agarwal Complex in Virar (west) of Maharashtra's Palghar district on Saturday night.

He complained of uneasiness and returned home, where he vomited.

His father Narpath and elder brother Rahul put him in an auto rickshaw and brought him to the Sanjeevani Hospital in Virar.

Rahul alighted with Manishkumar in the hospital premises and walked towards the emergency department.

Narpath was paying money to the auto driver.

Manishkumar collapsed near the medical counter of the hospital.

Even as Rahul screamed for help, his father Narpath suffered a cardiac stroke inside the auto.

Both were rushed into the hospital where they were declared dead.

Arnala Police registered a case under Section 174 of the CrPC and further investigation is on.

Police said the autopsy reports are awaited to ascertain the exact cause of deaths.

The final rites were held on Sunday.
