THANE: A 28-year-old man from Badlapur was found bludgeoned to death by an unknown person in the outskirts of the city along the Karjat highway, the police informed recently.
The police said that they had received an alert about the corpse with its head smashed apparently with a stone in the Juveli village.
A police team that reached the isolated spot off the busy Karjat Badlapur highway found empty liquor bottles in the vicinity and following initial probe tracked the identity of the victim.
“The victim is a local resident and a painter by profession. He was an alcoholic and is suspected have been accompanied with some acquaintances as we found a few liquor bottles at the crime spot. We also suspect the victim would have got into some argument leading to the crime,” said Shrikant Sonde, senior inspector at Badlapur police station
The police added that they have found a few leads and have launched a manhunt to nab the accused.
