Maharashtra: Leopard rescued after 10 hours rescue operation in Kalyan

KALYAN: After around 10 hours of rescue operation, the forest team with help of special team from Sanjay Gandhi National Park has managed to rescue leopard by tranquilizing the big cat which entered inside a building in busy Chinchpada area in Kalyan on Thursday evening.

The leopard injured at least five people including a senior citizen and a forest officer who had gone to nab him from Ram Anugrah Apartment where it was hiding after forest team cordoned off the entire area.

Panic gripped the area after locals learnt that leopard has entered inside the city. It was the first time people heard about leopard entering the city.

The forest officials suspect that the leopard might have come from Haji Malang hill using villages area to enter Kalyan during night time.

The forest official said that they got a call about leopard entering Chinchpada area and subsequently a team was deployed.

The forest team also took the help of fire brigade and local police for rescue operation.

The team successfully at 6.30pm managed to tranquilise the leopard which was hiding in the building.
