MUMBAI: The Maharashtra government issued a notification reducing the Value Added Tax (VAT) on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) from 13.5% to 3%.
The notification was issued on Friday, the last day of the budget session.
Deputy chief minister and finance minister Ajit Pawar announced the reduction in his budget speech for 2022-23. The reduction will come into force from April 1.
The reduction will come as a relief for comman man travelling in public transport including bus, taxis and autorickshaws. Citizens will get benefit as the government will not increase fares which was a demand being made in view of the increase in price of petrol, diesel and natural gas.
