Maharashtra: Duo dies after consuming excess toddy in Dombivli

THANE: Two youths residing in the Kopar area of Dombivli in Maharashtra's Thane district died due to over-consumption of toddy on Monday.

The two deceased have been identified as Sachin Padmukh and Swapnil Cholake.

Police said that Cholake was employed as a traffic warden in the Dombivli traffic unit, but had been on leave for two months citing health problems.

Following to incident, the Vishnu Nagar police have registered a case of negligence causing death against the toddy seller Ravi Bhatni and have launched a search for him.

Police said that Padmukh and Cholake had gone to the toddy shop situated near Kopar railway bridge with their friends on Monday evening for a drink.

After consuming toddy at 9pm, they were returning home when the duo started experiencing discomfort on the road and collapsed.

Their friends rushed them to a nearby hospital but the doctor declared them brought dead.
