Maharashtra: 'Don't celebrate Gatari at cop stations'

MUMBAI: Police on Friday issued a circular to its force warning them to not to celebrate Gatari Amavasya at police stations, crime branch and any of its offices, or strict disciplinary action will be taken against them.

Gatari is celebrated on Amavasya, or no moon day, in the month of Ashada as per Marathi calendar in Maharashtra. The circular said police stations are a public places, and cops should not believe in superstitions and not slaughter animals there.
