MUMBAI: A 32-year-old conman who hoodwinked senior citizens with sweet talk and fled with their valuables was arrested. The property cell (crime branch) held Haidar Jaffri from Shahpur, who had 14 cases of cheating in Mumbai and Thane.
He targeted a 64-year-old vegetable vendor in Jogeshwari on July 30. Jaffri told her that he wanted lemons for a new business and wanted to donate Rs1,100 to a temple. He gave her the money but said she should remove her gold and keep it in a bag. She later found her gold chain and ring missing.
