Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray says Centre's welfare schemes must be implemented without political bias

MUMBAI: Chief minister Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday said that welfare schemes of the central government must be implemented without political bias.

He said that the Maharashtra government has been on the forefront of implementing the government schemes and state machinery and has ensured that the benefits reach till the last eligible person.

He said the state contributes 40 per cent to the Centrally-sponsored schemes and the Maharashtra government. In an online event, Thackeray, interacted with beneficiaries of government schemes. Prime Minister Narendra Modi too had a similar interaction at the national level. Maharashtra has built five lakh houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna while five lakh more houses are being built under this scheme.

For this purpose, Thackeray said, Rs 3,500 crore was made available.Under the central Jal Jeevan Mission, 19 lakh families have been provided with tap water connections.
