MUMBAI: Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray on Wednesday had a conversation with his Telangana counterpart K Chandrashekhar Rao who is attempting to unite political parties against the BJP. Thackeray has invited Rao for a meeting in Mumbai this Sunday.
Thackeray’s extension of support to Rao is seen as a significant move amid the ongoing tussle between the state and BJP-ruled Centre. Sena’s Sanjay Raut has also lauded Rao’s efforts earlier.
“The CM and Rao had a brief discussion over the phone, and Uddhavji has extended his support to Rao’s efforts to unite political parties against the BJP. The overstepping by the Centre in matters pertaining to the state has irked the MVA, and his meeting is being seen as an attempt to defend the federal structure of the state,” said a senior minister.
According to Telangana CMO, Thackeray appreciated KCR’s efforts and said he had “raised his voice at the right time to protect the nation from divisive forces”.
