Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray arrives at Dilip Kumar's residence to pay final respects; says 'He will remain in the hearts of film lovers forever'

Maharashtra Chief Minister, Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray was among the many public personalities and celebrities arriving at the residence of late legendary actor, Dilip Kumar, to pay their last respects.

The CM was clicked on his arrival at the Padma Vibhushan awardee's residence, Wednesday afternoon. Thackeray was among the many politicians who took to social media to share some kind words remembering the film legend for his contribution to cinema.

"Enriching the Indian film industry, a shining star emerged from the silver lining. Dilip Kumar, who plays the role of Ajramar, will remain in the hearts of film lovers and fans forever. A heartfelt tribute to veteran actor Padma Vibhushan Dilip Kumar," the CM wrote in a tweet translated from Marathi.

Photos from the residence saw the CM consoling Kumar's grieving wife, Saira Banu.

Dilip Kumar's mortal remains will be laid to rest at Mumbai's Juhu kabristan at 5 PM this evening. It was announced that Kumar will be accorded a state funeral on the instructions of CM Thackeray.

Sharing more details about the last rites, Dilip Kumar's spokesperson Faisal Farooqui took to the former's Twitter account and wrote, "Burial today at 5pm..Juhu qabrastan at Santacruz Mumbai."

Other politicians including PM Modi, President Ram Nath Kovind and various heads of states and other political parties also took to social media to offer their condolences.

Dilip Kumar was 98 when he breathed his last on Wednesday morning at Mumbai's PD Hinduja Hospital. He was admitted on June 30 after he complained of breathlessness.
