Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde instructs MSRTC to provide Rs 10 lakhs each to kin of deceased in Dhar bus accident

MUMBAI: Maharashtra chief minister Eknath Shinde on Monday instructed Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) to provide 10 lakh ex-gratia each to the kin of the deceased in the bus accident in Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh.

An MSRTC bus, which was headed to Amalner in Jalgaon from Indore in Madhya Pradesh fell into the Narmada river in Dhar district. Nearly 13 dead bodies were fished out during the rescue operations and search for the remaining passengers was going on.

"I have spoken to the Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan to ascertain the situation on the accident site. The MP government has pressed its rescue agencies on site and we have also sent out rescue teams for assistance. The state government will provide all the help to the families of the deceased and medical assistance will be given to those injured," said Shinde.

BJP leader and MLA Girish Mahajan was rushed to Indore by his party to co-ordinate the rescue efforts and reach to the state in case of any requirement. "I spoke to the district collector over a video call to see the rescue efforts being taken at the accident site. The MP government has provided prompt assistance to us," said Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis.
