Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde announces 50 milion litres per day extra water for Thane

MUMBAI: Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Saturday announced that Thane city will be provided additional 50mld of water supply from Bhatsa and Barvi dam each.

It will also be provided another 20mld from the BMC quota, besides, an additional 6.5mld will be provided exclusively to Kopri, Wagle Estate and Diva areas. The decision was taken at a review meeting of Thane's water supply. He also directed the MMRDA to release Rs 336 crore for land acquisition for constructing a dam over Kalu river.
