Maharashtra: Boy made to run pillar to post to file a case

THANE: A 16-year-old boy was made to run pillar to post to register a case of mobile snatching at Airoli railway station after three unidentified persons stabbed him.

It was on Tuesday at around 3.10 am, the complainant who is a Airoli village resident went to Airoli railway station’s ticket counter on the west side.

He was confronted by three persons who asked him to hand over his mobile phone to which he resisted. As a result, the trio started assaulting him with punches, blows and kicks. One of them pulled out a knife and stabbed him near chest due to which he sustained minor injuries. in the meantime, the trio snatched his phone and fled the scene, the police said.

The complainant was treated and later he was discharged by the doctor the same day. He went to Gothivali police chowky where the cops told him to go to Rabale police station. When he went to Rabale police station , he was asked to visit Vashi Government Railway Police (GRP). When he went there, he was asked to visit Thane GRP, where the police registered a case under section 394 (Voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery) of the Indian penal code.

The police said that they have got some leads i.e CCTV footage and the further probe is underway.

A police officer said that if any complainant comes to them other than their jurisdiction, they are bound to take a complaint and then transfer it through the online Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) to the particular police station where the crime is committed.
