THANE: The crime branch has arrested one more Nigerian national last week linked to the earlier seizure of cocaine worth Rs 52 lakh from the Ivory coast national.
The arrested accused has been identified as Chukwu Goodwin, alias Craze 35 who was residing in Mumbai.
The police said that earlier this month, the crime branch unit-5 had arrested one Koffi Charles , 27,a native Ivory Coast, who was presently residing at Sakinka in Mumbai.
He was trapped on a tip-off , near Wagle estate police station and upon carrying out the body search the police had found nearly 60 grams of the cocaine which is worth Rs 24 lakh in the market. Later another 56 grams of cocaine was seized from Charles, said Vikas Ghodke, the senior inspector of the crime branch unit-5.
Ghodke added, Charles was remanded to police custody for the further interrogation and accordingly, he revealed the name of Goodwin as his accomplice who is also involved in peddling the contraband along with him.
The police again laid a trap and arrested Goodwin and recovered from him 18 grams of the cocaine which is worth over Rs 5 lakh in the market.
The police suspect that this could be a big chain of the accused who are peddling cocaine to the drug addicts not just in Thane but different parts of MMR region.
The accused is booked under NDPS act at Wagle Estate police station.
Ghodke added that they are finding out as to from where he sourced the drug and two whom all they were selling it too.
