Maharashtra again cuts syllabus up to 25% for Stds 1-12

PUNE: Up to 25% of the syllabus for Std I to XII will be cut, the state education department said on Friday, citing the Covid pandemic and closure of schools.

The Maharashtra State Council of Educational Research and Training has published a list of topics that will be omitted from the syllabus. This is for the second year that the syllabus has been reduced.

“The measure is being taken in view of the reduced time permitted for organising classes and to help students achieve the learning objectives in a less stressful environment,” education minister Varsha Gaikwad tweeted on Friday.

MSCERT deputy director Vikas Garad said, the syllabi reduction is the same as last year’s. “The omitted chapters or topics have already been published on the official website www.maa.ac.in. Students and teachers can refer to the website to understand the relevant portions,” he added.
