NAVI MUMBAI: A 62-year-old woman died after allegedly jumping from the balcony of her flat on the 32nd floor of a residential complex in Maharashtra's Panvel on Tuesday evening.
The victim, identified as Suchitra Sahu, resided with her son, daughter-in-law and minor grand-daughter.
Prima facie, the Panvel taluka police registered an accidental death case.
Ravindra Daundkar, senior inspector of Panvel taluka police station said, "On Monday, at around 4.30pm, Sahu was found dead lying in a pool of blood on the ground at the India Bulls residential complex at Kon village in Panvel taluka. The security guards informed Sahu's son Kartik, who was at his workplace at a private sector steel manufacturing company in Pen taluka. His wife and daughter were sleeping in one of the bedrooms of their 2BHK flat, when Suchitra locked the second bedroom from inside and allegedly jumped from the terrace. After her bedroom was unlocked, it was found that she stood on a chair kept on the terrace and jumped off the terrace."
Daundkar further said, "Suchitra's kin have provided medical papers of her being treated for insomnia and mental depression at Apollo hospital at CBD-Belapur."
