Maharashtra: 4 dead, 7 injured in pharma factory fire in Raigad; search on for 7 missing persons

MUMBAI: A fire in a pharmaceutical company in Maharashtra's Raigad district on Friday has resulted in the loss of four lives and leaving seven others injured.

Additionally, a search operation is currently in progress to locate seven individuals who are reported as missing, according to an official statement made on Saturday.

The fire erupted at Blue Jet Healthcare, situated in the Mahad MIDC area of Raigad, at approximately 11 am on Friday. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) official shared this information.

He further reported, "As of 7 am today, four bodies have been recovered. These individuals were part of the group of 11 who went missing following the factory fire. We are continuing our search efforts to locate the remaining seven missing persons."

Preliminary investigations indicate that the fire was initiated by a short circuit, as mentioned by the official. Initial reports on Friday had suggested that the blaze was triggered by an explosion at the factory, which subsequently caused chemical barrels to catch fire and explode.
