Maharashtra: 24,000 seats to be available for FYJC admissions in Nashik

NASHIK: About 24,000 seats in science, arts, commerce, and higher secondary vocational streams would be available for first-year junior college (FYJC) admissions in around 175 colleges in Nashik city.

The officials from the education department said at least 1,000 more seats would be made available for the students who cleared their Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations through the Common Admissions Process (CAP), even as the colleges in the rural areas will provide admissions on an individual basis.

Last year, more than 23,000 seats were available for the students across four streams, of which few were left vacant. The education officials have so far received confirmation from 161 colleges about 22,400 seats.

“There are at least 15 more colleges in the pipeline and presenting their credentials and permissions for starting the divisions in all the four streams. We are hopeful that they will add another 1,600 seats for the admission process, thus ensuring that the students get ample choices for confirming their admissions,” the official said.

Apart from this, the students also have other venues – diplomas in various engineering and other fields besides the Industrial Training Institute courses.

The educational authorities said that there are around 30,000 students from Nashik city who have cleared their class X examinations, and the educational institutions in the city are likely to see admissions by about 5,000 students from the rural areas. The number of seats required could be around 35,000, which will be easily assimilated in the various educational institutions in the city.

The education department will soon spell out the admission process for the students through https://nashik.11thadmission.org.in/Public/Home.aspx. The students are expected to complete their first leg of form filling exercise through the website where detailed instructions have been provided by the education department.
