Maharaja puts City Palace of Jaipur up for rent on Airbnb for $8,000 a night

If you’ve always dreamed of living like a royal, your dreams could come true thanks to an unlikely source - Airbnb.

Guests looking for a luxury rental can now stay in the 300 year old City Palace of Jaipur - a venue that has hosted plenty of other royals over the years.

Starting on November 23, the Gudliya Suite at the City Palace will be accessible to guests and available to book on Airbnb.

His Highness Maharaja Sawai Padmanabh Singh is the first-ever Maharaja to offer up his personal palace on Airbnb. But best of all? It's for a good cause. The money made on the rental will go towards the Princess Diya Kumari Foundation which supports female empowerment initiatives in rural areas.

The suite, which is in one of India's most iconic buildings, was previously reserved for members of the royal family including Prince Charles and Princess Diana as well as A-list guests including Oprah.

The rental includes a lounge, kitchen, and private, indoor swimming pool as well as a butler and chauffeur. It costs $8,000 per night and is currently available at a special inaugural offer price of $1,000, with Airbnb paying the balance for each booking as a contribution to the foundation.

Guests are likely to give their host a good review: It's 21-year-old Maharajah Padmanabh Singh.

If you can't make it to the palace (or don't have $8k to spare), you can follow along with the Maharajah on Instagram, where he posts pictures of his fabulous royal life. He escorted Reese Witherspoon’s daughter Ava Phillipe to Le Bal des Debutantes in 2017.

“I am thrilled that my family and I are partnering with Airbnb to bring the splendour of Rajasthan to life for travelers from around the world. My own travels with Airbnb have made me feel very welcome in new cities and cultures, and I am happy that the experience of quintessential Indian hospitality will be shared with others," His Highness Maharaja Sawai Padmanabh Singh said in a press release.

And while $8,000 a night might seem like a hefty sum, it's all for a good cause - and who doesn't love a rental that comes with its own royal host?
