Maguire replaces O'Brien - Sunderland team news for crucial promotion clash with Ipswich

Phil Parkinson made one change to the side that started the weekend 2-0 win at Gillingham.

Chris Maguire, who came off the bench to score the opening goal from the penalty spot, came into the starting XI in place of Aiden O’Brien, who dropped to the bench.

Ipswich boss Paul Lambert made three changes to the line-up that began their 1-0 win against Crewe Alexandra at Portman Road.

Toto Nsiala, Jack Lankester, and Kayden Jackson came into the side, in place of Luke Woolfenden, Freddie Sears, and Oli Hawkins.

It looks set to be a crucial clash with an early promotion rival - the Black Cats are currently four points adrift of Lambert's side but do have a game in hand.

SUNDERLAND: Burge; O'Nien, McLaughlin, Wright, Flanagan, Hume; Leadbitter, Scowen, Gooch; Maguire, Wyke

IPSWICH: Holy; Chambers, Nsiala, McGuiness, Ward; Dozzell, Bishop, Judge, Lankester; Jackson, Edwards
