Magpies ace Taylor Adams injures hamstring

Reigning Collingwood best-and-fairest winner Taylor Adams has suffered a hamstring injury and is no certainty to play in round one.

The Magpies' vice-captain suffered the setback at the AFL club's training session on Monday.

Collingwood say they will work towards Adams playing in their opening round clash against the Western Bulldogs at the MCG on March 19, but have offered no guarantees.

"Given the 27-year-old's history the medical department will monitor his progress over the coming weeks," the club said in a statement.

Adams enjoyed a career-best 2020 during the COVID-19 affected season, winning the Copeland Trophy and earning All-Australian honours for the first time.

He is an even more integral part of Collingwood's midfield this year given Adam Treloar was traded to the Bulldogs during the off-season to free up salary cap space.
