Magician Rodd Hogg set to wow Stendhal Festival with 'life or death' stunt

Magician Rodd Hogg has announced the venue for the 'biggest stunt of his career' later this summer.

The Co Derry man has been training hard for the spectacular stunt which he admits 'could kill him'.

The 40-year-old has now revealed that thousands of people will be able to watch his which will take place at Stendhal Festival, Limavady which runs from August 15-17.

Speaking to Belfast Live, Rodd says he's been training hard for months and will literally put his body on the line all in the name of entertainment.

"I’ve been in the gym the last three months busting my gut, and I’ve been doing yoga to strengthen my core. I’ve also been practising out of body meditation.

"One part of the stunt involves popping my shoulder, and when time is of the essence, it really is a matter of life, serious injury, or worse."

As the Irish magician has found out throughout the course of his training, wowing the masses with his incredible tricks, comes at a cost.

"It hasn’t been plain sailing though, I’ve put my back out twice in the prep, but thankfully recovered quickly both times. No stone has been left unturned. The training, physical and mental, will continue right up until the night itself.

"I am excited, but there will be nerves. You can train and prepare all you want, but you still need things to go your way on the day. The blood juices will be flowing, I’m going to be performing in front of 10,000 people. As an entertainer, it doesn’t get much better than that."

With the set to involve height and fire, Rodd is remaining tight lipped about what audiences will actually witness on the night in order to preserve the magic.

’"I'm keeping tight lipped about the actual closing spectacle, magic is all about the suspense, and the surprise and I don't want to ruin that. But what I can say is it's going to be incredible, something that people won't forget in a hurry."

Those attending Stendhal festival over the course of the weekend will feel Rodd's 'presence' as he will be there over the entire weekend mixing with guests and working his magic, with his big stunt taking place on Saturday, August 17.
