Magical Polar Express-inspired train to arrive in Eldon Square for Christmas

We know that many of you love The Polar Express so we can guarantee you'll be very excited about a new festive attraction, inspired by the film, which is about to arrive in Newcastle.

The 2004 Tom Hanks film is an inspiring adventure based on the beloved children's book by Chris Van Allsburg. When a doubting young boy takes an extraordinary train ride to the North Pole, he embarks on a journey of self-discovery that shows him that the wonder of life never fades for those who believe.

If it's one of your favourite films, you can look forward to taking a seat in a magical train that will take up residence in intu Eldon Square for the festive season.

The huge 14.6 metre engine will have pride of place outside of Hollister on St Andrew’s Way in the famous shopping mall.

The static train is decorated with artificial topiary, warm twinkly LED lights and neon flex profile trim so looks set to be THE festive photo opp in Newcastle this year!

The intu Eldon Square Express (OPR)

The intu Eldon Square Express will arrive in the mall next week, just as a shop dedicated to Christmas opens its doors opposite Card Factory.

Polar Express fever has hit the city this year after special screenings of it at both St James' Park Festive Fayre and Tyneside Cinema sold out almost as soon as they went on sale, even when extra screenings were added.
