'Magical, isn't it!' Newcastle United's move for Joelinton has got Crystal Palace fans talking

There are just 16 days left in the transfer window - and Crystal Palace fans are still waiting for the Eagles to spend money on a player this summer.

The Eagles have only signed goalkeeper Stephen Henderson on a free transfer so far this summer, with the Irishman joining Palace on a season-long deal following his release from Championship side Nottingham Forest.

The former Portsmouth and Charlton goalkeeper has become Palace's third senior goalkeeper, after club legend Julian Speroni left the Eagles this summer following the expiry of his contract.

Palace have been linked with several players, but have not yet made any further additions, despite Aaron Wan-Bissaka leaving the club to join Manchester United in a deal worth around £50million.

Several other players have also left the club this summer, including former captain Jason Puncheon, winger Bakary Sako and left-back Pape Souare, with no replacements coming in as yet.

As such, frustration is growing among Palace supporters at the lack of signings, with less than three weeks until the Eagles kick off the new Premier League campaign against Everton at Selhurst Park on Saturday, August 10.

A source of frustration for Eagles fans is seeing their Premier League rivals spending this summer to make additions, with a number of big-money deals being completed so far in the summer transfer window.

And soon, Palace could find themselves as the only Premier League club not to spend money on a player this summer, with Newcastle United closing in on the signing of striker Joelinton from Hoffenheim.

The Brazilian forward has had a medical ahead of a proposed club record move, and he is expected to complete the switch to become Steve Bruce's first summer signing since taking charge on Tyneside.

And the fact that Newcastle are currently the only other club not to spend money on a player so far this summer has not been lost on some Palace supporters.

Indeed, the Magpies' move for the 22-year-old has got some Palace fans talking on social media this afternoon (Tuesday).

Here's what some of them have been saying.

All other clubs in the Premier League have completed transfers in which they have paid fees for players this summer, including Chelsea, who have signed Mateo Kovacic on a permanent deal following his loan spell, despite the Blues being subject to a transfer ban.

Wolves have similarly signed players who had previously been at the club on loan on permanent deals, including Raul Jimenez and Leander Dendoncker.
