Shotmaking has been a big part of the Orlando Magic's four-game win streak.
Their best shotmaking Friday night in Cleveland came from Terrence Ross and at the free-throw line, and they were enough to keep that winning streak intact.
Ross scored 10 of his 21 points in the fourth quarter and the Magic used a 20-7 edge from the free-throw line to outlast the Cavaliers for a 93-87 victory at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse.
Evan Fournier finished with 18 points, while Aaron Gordon had 14 as the Magic moved back to the .500 mark (11-11) and improved to 3-0 against the Cavaliers this season.
Orlando shot just 39.0% from the field after topping 50% in each of its past two games.
Colin Sexton scored 19 points to lead the Cavaliers (5-16).
The Magic also earned the win with strong defense. Jonathan Isaac recorded four blocks
With 53.6 seconds left and the Magic up three, Gordon or Khem Birch blocked a breakaway layup attempt by Sexton.
Ross grabbed the miss and was fouled. He sank the ensuing free throws to put the Magic ahead 90-85 with 52.4 seconds left.
During the previous two Cavaliers' possessions, Birch forced a miss when he contested a shot by Cedi Osman, and Fournier blocked a short jumper by Sexton.
The Magic appeared ready to pull away when D.J. Augustin turned a steal into a layup that produced a 48-37 lead with 4:31 left in the second quarter.
But the lead never reached double digits the rest of the half as Sexton closed the quarter with six points in the final 4:22. His layup with 50.6 seconds left pulled the Cavaliers within five.
The Magic return to action Monday when they face the Eastern Conference-leading Milwaukee Bucks at Fiserv Forum. The game tips off at 8 p.m. and will be televised on Fox Sports Florida. The Bucks beat the Magic 123-91 when the teams met Nov. 1 in Orlando.
