Police will press charges against two companies and four people for alleged production and sale of substandard armpit whiteners sold under the Treechada brand owned by Magic Skin Co.
Deputy national police chief Wirachai Songmetta said on Thursday there were 145 complainants in the case, with total damages estimated at 113 million baht.
After questioning the complainants and their witnesses it was decided to lay charges against Magic Skin Co, Hanew Korea Co, Korn Phuangson, Wanpa Phuangson, Treechada Jaisabai and Pajaree Wongsomboon.
They would be charged with producing fake cosmetic products for sale, public fraud and computer crime for putting false information into a computer system, Pol Gen Wirachai said. The offences carry a maximum jail term of five years and/or fine of 200,000 baht.
Magic Skin had hired Hanew Korea to produce Treechada cosmetics, he said.
Police would take the suspects to meet public prosecutors on Friday. Action was earlier taken to impound their assets worth about 22 million baht in total. It expected the court would order the assets be auctioned off to raise money for the damaged parties, deputy national police chief said.
