WASHINGTON _ Orlando Magic center Nikola Vucevic fractured the first metacarpal in his left hand during the Magic's game Saturday night against the Washington Wizards.
Vucevic appeared to hurt his hand when Wizards swingman Otto Porter Jr. reached in for the basketball with 6:57 remaining in the first quarter.
X-rays taken at Capital One Arena revealed the fracture.
A team spokesman said Vucevic will be out "indefinitely."
Vucevic entered Saturday as the Magic's third-best scorer, averaging 17.8 points per game, and the Magic's best rebounder, averaging 9.6 boards per game.
His absence is just the latest major injury for the Magic.
Evan Fournier, Aaron Gordon, Jonathan Isaac and Terrence Ross sat out the game against the Wizards on Saturday night.
Their absences played a major role in the Magic's seven-game losing streak entering Saturday.
But matters are worse now.
Bismack Biyombo likely will receive major playing time during Vucevic's absence.
There's a possibility that Fournier, Gordon and Isaac will be able to play in the Magic's next game, which is scheduled for Tuesday night in Miami.
