Magic's 2nd pick in 2017 NBA draft will be 25th overall

The Orlando Magic's second first-round pick in the 2017 NBA draft will be 25th overall, a tiebreaker held Tuesday determined.

The tiebreaker settled a four-way logjam between the teams that finished the regular season with the league's fifth-best record: the Los Angeles Clippers, Toronto Raptors, Utah Jazz and Cleveland Cavaliers.

On Feb. 14, the Magic traded Serge Ibaka to the Raptors for Terrence Ross and a 2017 first-round draft pick.

The Raptors owned their own pick and also, because of a prior trade, the Los Angeles Clippers' first-round pick. As a part of the Ibaka deal, the Raptors agreed to give the Magic the less favorable of the two choices.

In Tuesday's tiebreaker, which was held in Secaucus, N.J., the Magic could have received the 24th, 25th or 26th pick.

The tiebreaker had no bearing on the Magic's chances in the 2017 NBA draft lottery, which will occur on May 16.

Because the Magic ended the season with the league's fifth-worst record, they will have an 8.8 percent chance of winning the top overall pick, a 9.66 percent chance of receiving the second pick and a 10.68 percent chance of obtaining the third pick.

The two most likely scenarios are that the Magic will receive the fifth pick (26.15 percent) or the sixth pick (35.99 percent). There's also an 8.36 percent chance the Magic will obtain the seventh pick and a 0.37 percent chance they'll obtain the eighth pick.

The Magic also own the 35th pick in the second round.

Due to prior trades, the Magic also would have the 33rd overall pick if, and only if, the Lakers win a top-three pick in this year's lottery.

If the Lakers fall out of the top three in this year's lottery, the Magic instead would receive the Lakers' unprotected first-round pick in 2019.

The 2017 NBA draft will be held on June 22.
