CLEVELAND _ The Orlando Magic have received some welcome news about Serge Ibaka's sore right knee.
An MRI showed no structural damage in the knee, coach Frank Vogel said Tuesday afternoon.
Magic officials felt all along that Ibaka's knee soreness wasn't the result of an injury, and the MRI confirmed the initial diagnosis.
Still, the MRI results brought a sense of relief.
"It's kind of what we felt," Vogel said. "But I think it just gives everybody peace of mind."
Ibaka will be available to play in the Magic's preseason exhibition Wednesday night against the Cleveland Cavaliers at Quicken Loans Arena. But Vogel said he's not sure if he'll play Ibaka since Ibaka hasn't practiced since the second day of training camp.
Ibaka is projected as the Magic's starting power forward. On draft night in June, the Magic traded Victor Oladipo, Ersan Ilyasova and the rights to first-round pick Domantas Sabonis to the Oklahoma City Thunder to acquire Ibaka.
Ibaka made the NBA All-Defensive first team for three consecutive seasons, from the 2011-12 season through the 2013-14 season.
The Magic also expect him to stretch the floor on offense with his 3-point shooting.
