Magic rally for 116-112 OT win against Pistons

ORLANDO, Fla. _ Aaron Gordon finished with 25 points and Markelle Fultz had 22 points as the Orlando Magic rallied to beat the Detroit Pistons, 116-112, in overtime Wednesday night at Amway Center.

It was the first overtime game of the season for the Magic, who were the last NBA team to play a game that required extra time.

Nikola Vucevic finished with 19 points and 11 rebounds while Evan Fournier also had 19 points and Wes Iwundu finished with 11 points as all five starters reached double figures for the Magic (24-31).

Christian Wood led the Pistons (19-38) with 26 points while Thon Maker had 18 and Tony Snell had 16.

Detroit outscored Orlando 54-36 from the 3-point line.

The Magic missed their first 11 shots of the fourth quarter. Fultz ended the field-goal drought with a 14-foot pull-up jumper at the 5:54 mark of the fourth quarter. But by that time, the Pistons had built a 94-89 lead.

The Magic rallied behind Gordon, who hit two 3-pointers in a 2:03 stretch. The second tied the game at 103 with 1:03 remaining.

It was 105-105 when Vucevic made a 3 that hit the rim six times before dropping in.

The lead was short-lived as Langston Galloway knocked down a 3 with 2.0 seconds left to tie it at 108 and force overtime.

The Magic got a layup by Vucevic on a give-and-go with Fournier, then Vucevic forced a turnover on the ensuing Pistons' possession. Fournier was fouled and made one of two free throws, leaving Orlando with a 115-112 lead.

The Pistons went to Galloway again, but he missed on the Pistons' 44th 3-point attempt. The ball was batted around before Gordon and Snell wound up in a jump ball.

Gordon tipped the ball forward and Fultz quickly corralled it. After getting fouled, Fultz hit one free throw to ice the win.

The Magic are off through Feb. 18 for the All-Star break. They will face the Dallas Mavericks in their first game back on Feb. 21 at Amway Center.
