Magic rally but fall to Pacers during first full game without Vucevic, Gordon

INDIANAPOLIS _ Indiana Pacers power forward Domantas Sabonis made most of his opportunity against Orlando's depleted interior lineup, scoring 25 points and handing the Magic a 111-106 loss Saturday night at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

With the defeat, the Magic fell to 0-6 on the road this season.

Evan Fournier finished with 26 points, while Jonathan Isaac scored a career high 25 points for the Magic (6-9).

Markelle Fultz totaled 13 points and nine assists for Orlando.

The Magic were a rebound away from a chance to hit a game-winning shot.

Instead, Myles Turner came up with the offensive rebound, and his hustle play led to a 3 by Aaron Holiday that put the Pacers (9-6) up three with 8.7 seconds left.

On the ensuing inbounds play, Justin Holiday came up with a steal from behind against Fournier. Holiday was then fouled and sank his two free-throw attempts to seal it for the Pacers.

Orlando was playing without injured starting center Nikola Vucevic and starting power forward Aaron Gordon, but the Magic put up a fight throughout the contest.

Terrence Ross buried a 3 on a kick-out pass from D.J. Augustin, who had penetrated into the lane, to tie the game at 74 with 4:12 left in the third as the Magic rallied from an 11-point deficit.

The Pacers used a 13-4 run during a 3 minute, 38-second stretch of the fourth quarter to take a six-point lead.

The Magic climbed within 104-103 on a Khem Birch basket off an offensive rebound with 2:15 to play.

Orlando then tied it at 106-106 with 31.1 seconds left when Fultz converted a steal into a dunk. Fultz poked away a pass intended for Turner, Fournier picked up the loose ball and he fed Fultz with the outlet pass.

But the Magic weren't able to make enough plays at the end.

Orlando played its first full game without Vucevic and Gordon, who are both out indefinitely due to ankle injuries.

The Magic travel to Detroit to take on the Pistons Monday night, then finish their four-game road trip Wednesday in Cleveland.
