Magic Mike announces Newcastle date and it's promising something very different

Channing Tatum's Magic Mike show has announced a new arena tour which will take in Newcastle next year, and offers a whole new experience to fans.

The show, created by the American actor, producer and dancer, will be on a very different scale., playing out at the Utilita Arena instead of its more usual cabaret-style spaces and upping the ante with more cast members, bigger numbers and sexed-up dance and acrobatic routines.

Based on the Magic Mike films Tatum starred in, and which were loosely based on his own experiences of being a teenage stripper, the show brings together artists from around the world and is out to celebrate the rebirth of live entertainment.

While many live events are looking to making a return this year - and the popular Magic Mike Live show run in London will be resuming its run in May - Newcastle fans will have to be patient as the upcoming tour date in the city is not until May 23 next year.

They can, however, plan ahead as tickets will go on sale at 9am this Wednesday, March 24.

Alison Faulk, who co-directs Magic Mike Live with Tatum and also choreographs it, said of the upcoming tour version: "This is not Magic Mike Live with more seats: our arena tour is something totally different.

"After a year of isolation and frustration, we want to give women something that makes them feel alive again - a sort of celebratory revival that makes them want to stand on their chairs, dance with their friends and feel connected to each other.

"The show is a once-in-a-lifetime celebration of togetherness, sexuality and freedom that only an arena can hold."

She added: "We want our guys to give our fans the best night of their lives with a party they’ll never forget.”

The show will involve an elaborate series of stages being created at the arena, with runways spanning the length of the floor. There also will be huge screens, visual effects and a live DJ. For tickets see here.
