Magic Johnson tweets message of support to Danny Ainge

On Thursday, Hall of Fame point guard and former Los Angeles Lakers president of basketball operations Magic Johnson took to Twitter to offer his well-wishes to Boston Celtics president and general manager Danny Ainge after it was reported Ainge suffered a mild heart attack Tuesday night, before the start of Game 2.

Magic was leading the Showtime Lakers and Ainge, who was a guard as well, was playing a key role on the Larry Bird-led Celtics in their youth, with the two playing against each other for seven-plus seasons from 1981-82 to 1990-91.

Magic and Ainge don’t have a particularly intimate friendship but they have a mutual respect for one another that stems from their days of playing against each other in the heated and historic Lakers-Celtics rivalry.
