Magic Johnson says friends telling him ‘Kawhi wants to meet’

Remember earlier this week when we joked about Magic Johnson moving on from being the president of the Lakers to tamperer-in-chief? Well, Magic himself continues to make himself a story with regards to potential free agents. And his latest bit of legal tampering is related to the top free agent on the market: Toronto’s Kawhi Leonard.

ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne spoke with the Lakers legend on Friday. Johnson told Shelburne that someone in Kawhi Leonard’s camp has told Johnson that Leonard wants to meet with him, even though he’s no longer officially part of the Lakers organization.

However, because of the sensitivity over Johnson’s connection to the Lakers, Johnson is reportedly not allowed to be a part of any official Lakers pitch meetings. But as pointed out by Tania Ganguli of the Los Angeles Times, that does not prevent Leonard from seeking an individual meeting with Johnson. An informational, if you will.

Kawhi Leonard Takes Informational With Magic Johnson is not a headline I would have anticipated, but on The Real Lakers of Los Angeles, anything is truly possible. And we as an audience are grateful.
