Magic Johnson opens up on who he believes ‘betrayed’ him with the Lakers

Back on April 25, just weeks after Magic Johnson stunned the NBA world by resigning as Los Angeles Lakers president — that was the infamous “I’m not gonna be here” press conference — the legendary former player tweeted “The truth will always come to light.”

On Monday, it appeared he was revealing what he was teasing and boy, did he deliver on that tweet.

While appearing on ESPN’s First Take, Johnson said that GM Rob Pelinka was the source of “betrayal” within the Lakers organization. Johnson claimed Pelinka said — behind Johnson’s back — that Magic wasn’t working hard enough and wasn’t in the franchise’s office enough:

He also joked he had been “fined enough” for tampering:

And he had a response to LeBron James, who would have been okay if Johnson had told the star he was out as president:
