Magic Johnson: Anthony Davis and LeBron James made life easier for each other

The NBA, the Player’s Association, Disney and their employee’s union are working on a lot of details regarding the NBA’s attempt to salvage the season and continue the playoffs at Walt Disney World in Florida. But once the procedural stuff is worked out, as many insiders expect it to, we will be back to talking about basketball at some point and the sprint to the finish towards a 2020 NBA Championship. LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers are one of the teams who have the best chance to win it all, but they wouldn’t be in the position they are in without the blockbuster trade for Anthony Davis last summer.

Magic Johnson, who pursued Anthony Davis during his time as the Lakers President and helped bring LeBron James to the Lakers, believes that the exchange has been mutually beneficial. Johnson said this in an interview with Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson of Heavy.com.

“When we traded for Anthony Davis, it’s made life easier for LeBron,” the Lakers legend and Naismith Hall of Famer told me.

“LeBron’s made life easier for AD as well.”

Davis is having an excellent season for the Lakers, leading them in scoring at 26.7 points per game, as well as team-high 9.4 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.4 blocks per game while shooting 51% from the field overall. Davis also has a team-high 144 dunks on the season, while also anchoring the Lakers defense to the No. 3 defense in the league.
