WASHINGTON _ Washington Wizards point guard John Wall took over in the fourth quarter Monday night. With help from former Florida Gators guard Bradley Beal and former Orlando Magic player Jeff Green, the Wizards halted a two-game Orlando winning streak with a 117-109 victory at Capital One Arena.
Wall scored nine points in the final period, dealt out four assists and chipped in one key blocked shot to give the Wizards (4-8) the momentum they needed to hold off the hot-shooting Magic (6-8).
Terrence Ross continued his hot streak, but this time around, the Magic couldn't capitalize. Orlando fell short of winning a third game in a row for the first time this season despite 21 points from Ross.
Evan Fournier added 20 points, and both Aaron Gordon (18 points and 10 rebounds) and Nikola Vucevic (17 points, 11 rebounds) finished with double-doubles. D.J. Augustin added 15 points.
Wall ended up with 25 points and 10 assists while Beal had 21 and Green had 18.
The Magic started the game well, just as they did in Sunday's victory at New York. Through six quarters leading up to halftime of the game against the Wizards the Magic had made 24 of 53 3-pointers (45 percent).
The teams were tied at 55 at halftime.
The Magic finished the game hitting 43 of 89 floor shots (48 percent) and 15 of 30 3-pointers (50 percent).
Orlando returns home to host the Philadelphia 76ers Wednesday. Tipoff is at 7 p.m. at Amway Center.
