Magaluf deaths: Thomas Channon becomes third British tourist to die at same hotel this year

A British teenager who died after falling 70ft from a balcony in Magaluf has become the third Briton to die from a fall in the same resort this year.

Thomas Channon, from Rhoose, near Barry in Wales, was celebrating the end of his A-Levels at the Spanish party resort when he fell from a raised walkway at the Eden Roc apartment complex in south west Mallorca.

It is believed Mr Channon had become separated from his group of friends in the early hours of Thursday morning during a night out. His body was later found by a gardener.

A spokesman for the Foreign Office said: "We are assisting the family of a British man who has died in Mallorca, and are in contact with the Spanish authorities."

It is understood Mr Channon's parents have flown to Mallorca.

One of the family's neighbours, who did not want to be named, told the BBC: "We do not know what has happened but it is very sad. They are such a lovely family and always very friendly and always say hello.

"Thomas and his brother are lovely boys and always very polite. It is just so sad."

Another neighbour said: "They're lovely neighbours. Really good people."

Last month 20-year-old Thomas Hughes, from Wrexham in north Wales, also died after falling from a walkway.

He was staying at a nearby hotel and investigators say he may have mistaken Eden Roc for his own accommodation.

In April, 19-year-old Natalie Cormack, from West Kilbride, Ayrshire, was killed while trying to climb from one balcony to another.

She had been working in a bar in the resort, and Spanish police believe she may have been trying to get in to her flat after forgetting her keys.
