MAFS's Thomas says he got Botox at 22 as he reveals truth behind cosmetic work

Married At First Sight star Thomas Hartley has admitted he had his first Botox injection at 22.

The reality TV star says he didn't "have a line of my face" when he first had the tweakment, and brands it the "most stupid thing" to do, as he opens up about his experience cosmetic procedures following his stint on the seventh series of the E4 show.

Thomas stunned viewers last month, when his opening video revealed his desire not to be matched with anyone not from Liverpool and saw the sassy mental-health work admit to a string of cosmetic procedures - including a hair transplant, veneers, regular Botox injections and having his ear pinned.

The E4 star has since explained how he doesn't want to end up "looking like Michael Jackson" when it comes to having work done, as he opens up about his relationship with surgery and body image.

The Married at First Sight star has candidly recalled his experiences with cosmetic surgery (E4)

"I didn't have a line on my face at 22. It was the most stupid thing to do!" Thomas, now 31, recalls when discussing the first time he ever had Botox. "Then from about 25 onwards, I've experimented with more - Botox as well as fillers.

"I don't want any drastic surgery, I don't want to change the way I look but when you watch yourself back, you do think 'Oooh, I'll have a little tweak here and there. "

The MAFS star goes on to tell Closer magazine how "you have to be sensible" when it comes to cosmetic surgery - adding: "I don't want to end up looking like Michael Jackson. But you can't have bad brows in Liverpool. They're like the nipples of the face."

Thomas and show husband, Manchester-based Adrian Sanderson, 37, have had a rocky time throughout their relationship since saying I Do on the E4 reality show - clashing on their honeymoon after tying the knot and constantly bickering throughout the series.

Recalling his preparation for going on the show earlier this year, Thomas admits to having Botox in his jaw in a bid to slim his face, but he 'hated' the results and claims the procedure dissolved the muscles and left him without a jawline.

Despite experiencing some trolling from viewers following his stint on the show, Thomas is hopefully he will inspire others in the LGBTQ community and be inspired to be their true, authentic selves.

He admits in his latest interview that he received more cruel comments than he had prepared for prior to going on the E4 series, but he refuses to spend his day worrying about trolls who have taken the time to write about him in a bid to make themselves feel better.

Thomas adds that the best thing he's taken from his Married at First Sight experience is the friends he has made and "having a platform where other queer people can watch me grow and be inspired to be true to themselves and not be ashamed of who they are."
