In this year’s batch of influencers and supermodels, Married At First Sight (MAFS) has copped a farmer! While there’s a show dedicated to romance and the ranch — *cough* Farmer Wants A Wife (FWAW) *cough* — this Victorian-based hunk of spunk has decided to dive into the deep end and get hitched to a complete stranger. But, if he doesn’t make it beyond the Ouch Couch with his reality TV wifey, will we get a MAFS X FWAW crossover?
Here’s what farmer Luke Fourniotis had to say.
On Tuesday, Australia was introduced to Luke, who was matched with Canberra’s Mel Akbay, in this year’s MAFS shebang.
However, during his introduction package, we learned that Luke was a farmer who recently took over his late father’s cattle property.
Of course, with that info and a long shot of the groom donning some farming gear, I couldn’t help but think why he hasn’t thrown his Akubra in the world of FWAW.
Now, not to completely shit on MAFS because it truly is one of the highlights on my reality TV roster, FWAW objectively has a higher success rate when it comes to matching singles.
After all, FWAW has produced 11 marriages, nine relationships and a whopping 27 children.
Will Married At First Sight‘s Luke Fourniotis join Farmer Wants A Wife?
Reflecting on his ever-expanding dating show options, Luke admitted to PEDESTRIAN.TV that he never “really thought about going on a reality TV” before MAFS.
In fact, he told P.TV that the opportunity to become a MAFS groom “fell in [his] lap”.
“I would never have actually thought about doing Farmer Wants A Wife, even though that probably sounds more fitting for me,” he said.
When asked if he would join FWAW if things went south with Mel, he simply said, “Probably not”.
“I’ve already seen some speculation, like ‘Why hasn’t he been on Farmer Wants A Wife?’ and I mean, I am a farmer, but I’m not just a farmer. I feel like there’s more to me than just the farm,” he added.
How did Luke Fourniotis get cast on Married At First Sight?
During his mammoth tea spill to P.TV, Luke revealed he was approached by a casting agent, which led him down the MAFS aisle.
“I actually got reached out from a casting agent — and pretty much got told, ‘We think you’d be a great match for the show. Would you like to try it out?’,” he shared.
“I just, like, naturally said, yeah, for sure. Why not? As I do with most things.”
He added that he had no regrets about taking the opportunity and that his time on the show was a “real experience”.
While he didn’t spill on his current relationship status, he did say that he’s made contact with Mel post-production. So, safe to say, this groom will not be heading on FWAW if his MAFS marriage crumbles.
