MAFS expert Paul Carrick Brunson defends new series as viewer slams ‘fame hungry’ couples

Married At First Sight UK expert Paul Carrick Brunson has been forced to defend the show after one viewer described it as ‘boring’.

Paul, 46, was keen to reassure viewers that the latest series of the E4 programme is well worth the watch.

One Twitter user wrote to him saying: “@PaulCBrunson I feel so disappointed with this years series. All fame hungry. No real people. All stick thin, slapped up women -- boring!

“It's an interesting experiment but choosing these types of people is just for the drama which down plays the experiment. #mafsuk,” they added.

However, Paul was quick to retweet the post and added: “I hear you and get your thoughts given all the opinions around the show but know this, most of this cast came into this experiment wanting to find true love.”

He then urged: “Stay with us until the end, you just might be surprised with the results. #MAFSUK.”

But another viewer was having none of it and replied to Paul, referring to the claims that one contestant dumped his girlfriend of 11 years before going on the show.

“How can you say that when one of them had been in a relationship fir11 years and 3 of them have already been on realty tv shows… (sic),” they tweeted.

Paul then replied: “The 11 year thing is a rumor at this point but if true, is bottom line unethical.

“For others who have been on TV before, does that make you less interested In being in love? I don’t see it that way (sic).”

The Twitter user then answered: “It certainly looks true. I don’t think being on reality shows previously mean you’re not genuinely looking for per se but I’d definitely say it makes it vastly less likely.., it’s clear those particular 3 people were all about tv exposure and horrendously shallow."

Paul urged the particular fan to 'stay with us until the end' as he replied to their tweet (Twitter)

Paul was quick to respond and politely added: “I’ll agree with you that previously being on makes it less likely. Not impossible, but less likely. That said, I personally believe most of the cast sought true love.”

He then teased: "I believe you’ll find Thursday’s commitment ceremony interesting."

Paul's tweets come after one couple dropped the L-bomb during Tuesday night's episode.

The new series of Married At First Sight UK began on August 30 (E4)

Tayah Victoria and Adam Aveling hit it off straight away when they got hitched on the show last week, and they wasted no time in getting close to one another on their luxurious honeymoon.

Referring to their physical relationship, Tayah cheekily told the cameras that she and Adam had been having sex "like rabbits".

However, the couple's relationship is definitely more than just sex as they also seem to have very strong feelings for each other.

As they sat down for a romantic dinner, Adam told Tayah: "It's been unbelievable hasn't it? It feels like I've known you for like ages though, it's crazy.

Adam Aveling told wife Tayah Victoria that he loves her during Tuesday's episode of the E4 show (Channel 4)

"I didn't know how I'd react to being in a relationship, how I'd react to spending all my time with a woman. You've made my life everything that I've ever sorted of wanted..."

"You're making me all giddy!" Tayah giggled, as Adam continued: "I've absolutely loved every single minute of it, I've never ever experienced the feelings I've felt with you before.

"And I just wanted to say I definitely know that I do love ya. I know it's been a short period of time but I definitely do love you," he added.

Married At First Sight UK airs Monday - Thursday at 9pm on E4.
