Wednesday night’s episode of MAFS was quite the doozy, especially with newly-dubbed villain groom Chris finally getting hitched to his assigned reality TV wifey, Brook.
Ahead of his wedding, Chris went viral after an old audition tape resurfaced online, in which he listed his turn-offs as “fake tans, needy and fat people”.
During the Bucks’ party, he reiterated his distaste for overweight people, even voicing, “Fat people are no go”.

While that was a major talking point of his MAFS journey so far, his wedding with Brook lit the internet on fire after he complained about not getting a kiss from his bride despite telling cameras he doesn’t care.
Spoiler alert: I think he does.
When the pair were officially announced as husband and wife, Brook didn’t lean in for a kiss. Instead, the pair hugged before the celebrant asked if they’d like the seal the union with a smooch.
After saying she was “conservative”, Brook allowed Chris to give her a peck on the cheek.

But shortly after the stunt — which also left Chris’ mates confused — the groom was filmed venting to his producer about the awkward situation after telling the cameras he’s “not fussed” that he didn’t get a wedding snog.
“Like, what’s the point?” he told his producer off-camera.
“If you get along with someone… See if it works. See if you have fun. If it doesn’t then you know it’s shit.
“Like, at least kiss me on the fucking wedding stand. This is an experiment, you’ve got three months. Like, I’m not fucking hanging out for fucking two months to just get my first kiss.”
The off-camera conversation was then followed by Chris assuring the audience that he “does not care” for the billionth time.

The tantrum went viral, with many fans poking fun at Chris’ behaviour and the fact this him saying “I don’t care” makes it look like he does, especially with the off-camera conversation.
Married At First Sight ‘s Chris Nield admits he felt ‘betrayed’ by the off-camera conversation
Reflecting on the incredibly awkward reality TV moment, the 2026 groom laughed and said he felt “betrayed” by the producer he was venting to.
“I thought she was my friend,” he told P.TV before explaing why he felt some type of way by Brook’s rejection.
“In the moment, obviously, you got the cameras on you and everything is being broadcast to the nation at the end of the day. So I was thinking it was more of a why wouldn’t you if you’re in that position. That you’re going on a dating show.
“Why wouldn’t you at least embrace it and like a kiss.”

But regardless of the juxtaposing scenes, Chris insists that he doesn’t care about how it translates to the broader audience.
“I think the moment, I was just a little bit awkward about it or nervous,” he continued.
“I’m not too fussed on how it was potrayed on TV. That’s me. I let things and my emotions known. I’m very, heart on my sleeve.”
While we’ve yet to see a snog on the lips, Chris and Brook did share a kiss on the cheek. But did their relationship last beyond the show?
I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
